CONFIRMATION
WE PRAY FOR GOD’S RICHEST BLESSINGS UPON OUR CONFIRMANDS, confirmed in our Sunday morning worship service April 21: Jamie Critel, Jenna Critel, Jessica Critel, Shyann Chitty, Jenna Garver, Breanna McIntyre, and Austin Seamann. May God continue to bless them as they acknowledge the gifts bestowed upon them in their baptisms, and as they identify with the life and mission of the Christian community here at Zion.
CARD SHOWER
To honor Joan Bockstadter for her 80th birthday on April 25, you are invited to send her a card at 1216 N. Kansas Avenue, Hastings, NE 68901.
NO SCHOOL
Zion School will not have classes on Thursday and Friday, April 25 & 26, so the teachers can attend a conference
PLANT SALE
When we requested the plants to fill our plant orders we also ordered extras of our best sellers. If you did not get an opportunity to order plants, please stop at the fairgrounds and choose from the extra plants. The plant sale will be held Friday, April 26 until 6 pm at the Adams County Fairgrounds.
ZION INVITATIONAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
The Zion School invitational Softball Tournament scheduled for April 20 at the Smith Softball Complex is CANCELLED since the fields still have snow on them.
GATHERING OF THE TALENTS
Congratulations to all of the students who submitted artwork or competed in the annual Gathering of the Talents competition! Great job!
STUDENT ILLNESSES
Thankfully, student illnesses are much lower than they were around Christmas break. We still have a few reports of strep throat but flu season appears to have passed. Remember that our policy is that your child needs to be free of a fever for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications before returning to school.
ACLEA FIRE

The annual ACLEA "FIRE" Fundraiser was another hugh success thanks to our committee members, donors, attendees, and those who purchased live and silent auction items. On Easter Sunday we received a check from ACLEA for $65,000. Some of the money has been designated for scholarships so contact Zion if you are interested in receiving registration information.
OPEN ENROLLMENT
Zion School has an open enrollment policy. We welcome any families that are interested in education with a Christian perspective. We are now accepting registrations for both preschool and K-8 grades for the 2013-14 school year. Contact Zion at 402-462-5012 and we will be happy to visit with you and send you a registration packet.
RECEIPTS & REBATE PROGRAMS
Remember that we collect Allen's store receipts from September 1 - March 30 of each year. We are not able to submit receipts dated after March 30 of each year but will again start accepting receipts in the fall that are dated after September 1. Just send the receipts to the school office and we will do the rest. Allen's will provide 1% of all sales receipts (some excusions apply) to the Zion PTU.
We also continue to collect Sunmart receipts, Best Choice labels, Campbell's points, and Box Tops for Education all year round. In the past year we have received over $1000 in cash plus dozens of new items for our classrooms. This year we are on target to get even more rewards. Thanks to all of you for making this a success at Zion.
From the Principal, Mrs. Schaefer
Hello and welcome to Zion Lutheran School's website! If you cannot find the answers to your question or searches, please call the office or come for a visit! Our theme for the 2012-13 school year is, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11. Here at Zion Lutheran School, we are preparing children to prosper and serve the Lord throughout their entire lives. Zion Lutheran School offers a Christ-centered education with a high quality curriculum and an excellent staff. ZLS has been blessed with many funds to assist your family with tuition. Please don't allow money to become an obstacle for your child's education. I would be more than happy to discuss the future of your child's education at ZLS, where we are educating students for an eternity!
Mrs. Schaefer
